Arizona State University - Cronkite School of Journalism and KAET-TV Channel 8, Phoenix
As part of the renovation of downtown Phoenix, a new building was
constructed to house the
Arizona State University Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass
Communications (CSJ), PBS Station KAET-TV, radio station KBAQ, and
internet-hosted educational
outreach services.
BFA was
responsible for all television systems design, contractor supervision
and commissioning with ASU/CSJ and KAET personnel. The project included
the TV
broadcast and production areas, studios, edit suites, news rooms and
support
areas.
BFA had the additional responsibilities of designing,
implementing and licensing the Satellite transmission and reception
system, rooftop antennae, and studio to transmitter microwave link.

Phoenix Satellite Television Network
Phoenix Satellite TV, is China’s second largest television network, serving a worldwide audience of over 300 million. PSTV operates six separate program channels, including Phoenix Chinese, InfoNews, Movies, Hong Kong, North America Chinese and Chinese News and Entertainment Channel. In 2012, PSTV decided to expand its Los Angeles headquarters operations to include U.S. based programming and distribution tailored to the North and South American markets. The new facility includes a large two story audience stage, insert and news studios, news room, two production control rooms, five edit suites, master control room, central equipment room, dressing, makeup and green rooms.
BFA worked with the design team on the selection and renovation of the site, and, with the PSTV staff, designed the production, editing, and support areas, technical systems, oversaw systems construction, and commissioned the final systems.

E! Entertainment Networks, Los Angeles, California
As part of the expansion of its production and transmission facilities,
E! Entertainment moved to a new site, and upgraded to digital
technology.
BFA was responsible for the design, systems
specification, technical negotiation,
architectural coordination, construction supervision and on-site project
management of the construction of a the new HD plant. The new facility
consists of two production studios, twenty-five edit suites, four
channel
automated master control, satellite transmission center and equipment
rooms. BFA also managed the transition from the existing analog plant
to the new digital facility, including the “hot” cutover of the
transmitted signal.

Univision Television Group, Los Angeles, California and Nationwide
As part of a nationwide expansion and acquisition program, a
new headquarters and technical facility was constructed for the largest
Hispanic broadcast station group in the United States and the launch of a
second national network.
BFA provided design, specification, construction supervision
and project management for the new Univision Television Group headquarters in Los Angeles, encompassing the KMEX-TV and KFTR-TV operations at the Howard Hughes Center.
The facility consists of a complete, HD compatible, serial
digital plant with duopoly Master Control for simultaneous operation of
independent Univision and Telefutura Network streams. The facility included;
- Three live studios - Live News and Sports studios - On and off-line edit bays - Fully automated server-based commercial systems - 9.3 meter satellite uplink - Twelve satellite downlinks.
